How to use ARPA money to fund climate projects

August 19, 2021

About the Resource

The American Rescue Plan Act ("ARPA") passed in March 2021 provides substantial funding to state and local governments through the establishment of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Some $350 billion will be distributed, with the money intended to be used for eligible projects that help with recovery from the economic and health shocks posed by COVID-19.

The US Department of Treasury has provided guidance on eligible uses of the ARPA funding, and CivForge has written a short memo to help assist local governments in identifying eligible projects that address climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience concerns.

The information provided in the memo does not, and is not intended to, constitute legal advice.
